The beauty industry has always been built on hard work, dedication, and personal connection. But when COVID-19 hit, salon owners and beauty professionals—many of them women—faced challenges unlike anything they had experienced before.

Salons were forced to close, appointments disappeared, and many artists suddenly had little or no income. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in beauty salons dropped by 82% during 2020. (⁠Bureau of Labor Statistics)

For many women who had spent years building their businesses, their salons were more than a workplace—they were their livelihood, their independence, and a source of income for their families. The pandemic created financial pressure through lost appointments, reduced hours, supply challenges, and increased operating costs.
